Yes, it's February first. So first off, happy birthday to Nate. Also, this is my first new post on my redesigned blog. Like it?

Now on to my reason for posting. I just discovered a new map site. Well, I didn't discover it like I was the first to ever find it, but I don't think it's quite as well known as others. My proof lies in the lyrics of "Lazy Sunday" [aka "The Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia"]:

Well let's hit up Yahoo Maps to find the dopest route.
I prefer Mapquest. That's a good one too!
Google maps is the best. True dat, double true!

So what wasn't mentioned? Windows Live Local. It's currently only in beta and I found it to be quite the memory hog, but I some of the aerial images looked quite nice. Also, in certain areas, it gives you the option to view a very nice, clear bird's eye view photo of the area. For example, here's my high school! And here's my college! Anyway, I just thought this was a pretty cool feature. Yay Microsoft! LOL

Ok, so fifth-seeded Mary Pierce just lost in her second round match at the Australian Open. Or as I like to call her, Mary frickin' Pierce. Normally this would make me happy, except this time I picked her to make it all the way to the finals, beating an injured Clijsters along the way in a relatively weak bottom half of the draw. So, this time I'm actually pissed at her for losing lol. This leaves a wide open draw for comeback girl Martina Hingis to make it through to the quarterfinals. Should be interesting.

He's played for the Flyers for so long now that he's recently moved up to 5th on the Flyers' all time games played list. But he's just not good enough anymore. The defensemen brought up from the Phantoms, Freddy Meyer and Randy Jones, are easily playing better than he is. My second favorite Survivor ever. She talked with her for a few seconds and Steph had a big smile on her face when my mom recognized her, but Steph was very busy buying a dress for her niece it looked like so she didn't get to talk with her long.
It's also funny because just last night I had been watching the local news coverage of Stephenie on the night of the Guatemala finale while I was recording it to DVD.
The other coincidence is that I had just gotten in the mail the item I won from the Survivor auctions after the Guatemala season ended.
So I started to make a list of my top ten favorite Survivor contestants through the first 10 seasons, but I quickly realized I would have to leave off too many of my favorites, so I decided to go with a top 20. This was still pretty hard to narrow down, and the particular ordering of each person was tough. But here's what I came up with, for now:

1. Rob C. (Amazon, All-Stars)
2. At least the punter is doing ok. At least it's only through 5 games.
Flyers special teams suck: Pathetic power play, 1 for 19. Pathetic penalty killing, 14 for 19.
So, The Amazing Race 8: Family Edition premiered earlier tonight, and I was worried it would be really dumbed down due to the number of little kids on the show this time. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, though, especially since they were in Philadelphia and other parts of Pennsylvania. It looks like they might remain in the US the whole race, but I hope they at least go to Canada or something. But now to the point of my post, the last place team on this first leg of the race was the Black family, an African-American couple and their 2 kids. Not that I'm a racist or anything, but I found it slightly amusing that the Black family were actually black, because, for example, other teams could say something like, "We gotta beat the Black family!", which would sound really racist, but would not be since that's actually their last name. I know it sounds kind of bad, but my brother and I found this amusing. But I'm sad that they are out of the race now because they seemed like really nice people and the kids were cute. Plus, I couldn't stand that obnoxious Paolo family and was hoping they would lose. Favorite team so far: the Linz family because they crack me up.

    <lj:music>NewsRadio</lj:music>

You know those rare days when you hear some unusual thing mentioned on two different occasions? Something you may have never even heard before in your life. And then all of a sudden you hear it twice in the same day. I seem to have one of those days every month or so, and it just happened. What was it this time? Loretta Swit. I was watching the most recent episode of “Battle of the Network Reality Stars” on Bravo (as Beau would say, “Love it!”), and she came on as a sort of guest host for an event since she had taken part in the original Battle of the Network Stars in the 70s. Well, I was just heading to bed but felt like watching a quick episode of NewsRadio first since I was in the mood for a good laugh. Low and behold, Dave Foley’s character (which by the way brings this full circle since he hosts another reality show on Bravo that I love, Celebrity Poker Showdown) mentions Loretta Swit. I couldn’t believe it and he said it so fast that I almost missed it. In this NewsRadio episode, Loretta Swit was one of the women on Jimmy James’ wife candidates list. I’m sure I had never heard of Loretta Swit before except from this NewsRadio episode, but not knowing who she was, it went right over my head. But today, I learned of this former actress and then amazingly heard her name referenced once again just hours later. Pretty funny how these things happen.

So I just got home from seeing the movie Wedding Crashers, and I must say it's freaking hilarious. Haven't laughed so hard at a movie in a long time. It's definitely rated R though. Also not the kind of movie to go see with your parents. But Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are both great, and there's a great cameo by someone but I won't say who so as not to ruin the surprise. The best part of the night was that I was able to get a student ticket ($2 off) even though I'm not exactly a student anymore hehe.
Richard Roeper: "It produces more laughs per minute than any film so far this year."
George Bush is really starting to piss me off. Yes, I voted for him, and no, it's nothing about politics. I obviously don't pay enough attention to any of that stuff to comment on it. It's his last minute primetime speeches that are killing me. Doesn't he know I have my shows I gotta watch? And it totally screws up my TiVo. Big Brother 6 is supposed to be on, but instead CBS breaks in to show Bush's announcement of his Supreme Court judge nominee along with at least 10 other stations. It's rediculous. And now at about 9:10 they just started showing Big Brother finally... in progress! That pisses me off even more. Screw Bush.

<lj:music>The Amazing Race (reruns on GSN)</lj:music>

So you know those Amazon.com cash cards they are giving away at Burger King this month? Well, I was checking out the rules online and I came upon this...
"Canadian residents must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question online to be eligible to redeem the Amazon Credit."
LOL! Now how freaking hilarious is that? Funny thing is, I want to try these math problems for fun, unless they are absurdly simple. Since I don't like Burger King, I'm gonna mail in for some free game pieces, and maybe I'll trick it pretending to be Canadian hehe. I mean, I do love hockey. Curling's cool too (yes, I did watch a few minutes of curling on TV today).

Speaking of hockey, the NHL is back! WOO HOO! The Flyers are gonna kick butt this year, although I am dreading the imminent day when they will buy out John LeClair's contract. So, so sad. But $6.84 million (after the 24% rollback) for one player is just way too much with a salary cap under $40 million. Any chance he'll take a huge pay cut just to remain with the team? I'm praying, yet I highly doubt it. I still clearly remember the day of the trade and reading about it in the paper. February 9, 1995. LeClair, Eric Desjardins, and Gilbert Dionne from Montreal for Mark Recchi. Turned out to be a great trade, especially when the Flyers stole back Recchi for Dainius Zubrus and a couple draft picks. But now Bob Clarke let Recchi return to Pittsburgh, and LeClair is soon to leave also. I will miss him :-( Thank goodness for the Calder Cup Champion Philadelphia Phantoms and soon to be stars Jeff Carter and Mike Richards! (That Daymond Langkow trade is looking really good now!) OK, enough hockey geek talk, time for bed.
